Islamologist specializing in Sufism, author and lecturer

Eric Geoffroy is a French Arabist Islamologist and writer, born in Belfort in 1956. Professor Emeritus at the University of Strasbourg, where he taught Arabic and Islamic studies, he is a member of the Scientific Council of the Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi. An internationally recognized specialist in Sufism, his research also addresses the challenges of spirituality in the contemporary world: globalization, ecology, women’s issues, spiritualities in action, and more. He is president of Conscience Soufie, an association that seeks to transmit to a wide audience the universal wisdom of Islam and Sufism, in order to contribute to the spiritual flourishing of individuals, to social peace, and to cultural exchange. Eric Geoffroy is the author of numerous books, some of which have been translated into foreign languages. While he does not neglect the academic field, he considers it essential to bear witness to his human and spiritual experience.
